Terms and Conditions

  • The family funeral plan covers the Main Member, 1 (one) spouse and 5 dependent children under the age of 21 years or 25 years if a full-time registered student. Members must be between the ages of 18 and 65 years.
  • In the event of death, other than the Accidental Death of an Assured Life, a waiting period of 6 (six) months from the inception date of the policy shall be applicable in respect of the full payment of benefits.
  • Insurance cover will not be granted and benefits will not be payable in the event of the death of the Assured Life resulting directly or indirectly from, or which is attributable to suicide or attempted suicide, during the first 24 months from the inception date, notwithstanding such suicide or attempted suicide being the result of the insanity (temporary or permanent), mental illness, the influence of drugs or intoxication of the Assured Life.
  • The premium that you choose on the policy will be determined by the age of either the Main Member or Spouse, by using the age of the oldest person.
  • Accidental death: no waiting period, provided that the first premium has been received by Assupol Life.
  • Assupol Life does not require medical information before acceptance of this policy.
  • Claims are paid out by Assupol Life within 48 working hours (6 days), after receiving all documentation.
  • A grace of one month's premium for each 12 consecutive month's payment, up to a maximum of 6 grace premiums will be allowed. These grace premiums will be recovered from the death benefit at claim stage.
  • The Policy Number or Policyholder ID number must be used as reference number when paying cash.
  • Cover will be provided once the application has been signed and accepted and the correct premium has been received by Assupol Life. When paying cash at the SA Post Office or EasyPay outlet, a membership card must be used
  • If no premium has been received for two consecutive months, the policy will lapse and a new policy must be applied for.
